What is cutting?

Cutting is the term most commonly used in bodybuilding and the weightlifting community in general to explain the period of time in which they are aiming to reduce their body fat,

When cutting, most people will start performing cardio sessions 3-5 times per week after their workouts. In collaboration with this they will reduce their calories to what we call a caloric deficit (eating less calories than what their body is burning daily). 

Cutting cycles do not have a set period of time, they last as long as the person wishes to get to their goal bodyfat percentage. This being said most people will try to achieve this within 4-12 weeks. 

The biggest problem for most people when cutting is losing muscular mass. Although this is considered 'normal' by most, it doesn't need to happen on a large scale if at all.
